On 26th November 2023, 12 artists from Malaysia, Cambodia, The Philippines, Indonesia, and Singapore arrived on a special invitation to the island of Bali to participate in the inaugural Maybank Foundation Artist Fellowship Programme. This programme, curated and directed by Khai Hori from Chan + Hori Contemporary was hosted by a total of 20 coaches, mentors, and elders. For 4 full-days, the artists were immersed in an expansive, on-the-road learning expedition at rice fields, a temple, Javanese joglos, Balinese bale banjar, parks, restaurants, historic dwelling, hotel, museum and art spaces for specialised workshops and tailored experiences.
